Reclaiming Our Industrial Might @ Black Country Living Museum 19-20 May 2018

Exhibition post from the opening night of 'Reclaiming Our Industrial Might' at Black Country Living Museum
Post and photography by Ken Harrison
Earlier in the year I responded to an open call for images for Reclaim Photography Festival 2018 (RPF2018). The programme requested submissions for: ‘Reclaiming Our Future’ and a special regional project: ‘Reclaiming Our Industrial Might’ as part of the celebrations to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Black Country Living Museum, in Dudley, capturing the people, places and industries, past and present, within the Black Country region.
I was delighted to have a number of images taken at Soho Foundry from my “Picture Of Smethwick’ project accepted as part of the ‘Industrial Might’ exhibition, (alongside the inspirational work of Andrew Crawford, Bradley Pearce, Peter Hodgson and Phil Loach) which were displayed in the foundry area at Black Country Living Museum over the weekend.
These images were supplemented by a set of further Smethwick images for a digital projection on the limestone kiln walls at the museum as the dusk turned to night, which showed the images 30 feet high, and with an additional dimension as the texture of the kiln wall came through on the projections.
Many thanks to Maxine Watts who organised the festival and the many exhibitions and events as part of RPF2018, I look forward to RPF2019.
